Who needs expensive basing kits eh? Bits of twig and bark for the win.
Still not busy enough for me though, want to get some little leaves or flowers on there too.
FOREST NIDS.
Hot damn those bases are sweet.

Proper shot of the nids :) Just need their bases done now, then onto the next batch. Really happy with the scheme, it will translate to showpiece standard really well I think!
Also included is a far lower quality black backdrop shot to show just how fecking bright these things are.
Attack of the watermelon nids! Love how bright they are.
Brass highlighted now, kept it really subtle to not overly lighten him. Starting on bone and teeth. So freaking happy with how he is progressing.
One of the shots is out of focus but I was a derp and didn’t realise, I will take better ones as soon as I have the time. Coming into my “weekend” now and have a lot to do :D
This, right here, makes me want to play chaos…I don’t even like playing 40k/fantasy anymore but THIS!
Last shots with the black background, he is getting too dark for it now. Oh how I do love the way it never bleaches reds..
Mithril has been slowly dyed down to a really old bronze with a lot of layers of sepia, chestnut ink, purple wash, and badab black. Each layer was painted on carefully to make sure it pooled around rivets etc to give them extra detailing.
Bronze will get a very thin mithril highlight and a little hand finishing, then it’s time for his mouth and bone/hooves tomorrow. I’m really happy with how he is progressing.HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.
Look at the reds
Look at the detail on the red
Look how fucking gorgeous that shade of red isljdsfk

So the marine in front is a rather tall regular sized space marine. The monster behind him is the resin Brass Scorpion I am painting for a pal.
It’s… a bigun.Holy crap I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
My plan is to paint it poop brown and then sprinkle some glitter and hundreds and thousands on top, then charge like €600 and call it modern art.
I might photoshop in some lens flare and everything, what do you think?
I think it needs to be in a “my little pony” color scheme, all light pink and yellow with a cutey mark (I feel dirty for knowing what that is).

This shit is tiny. Too tiny. TOO TINY! DO YOU HEAR ME DREADFLEET??
WHAT IS THIS?? A BOAT FOR ANTS??
Hehehehehehe, I can see zoolander being very confused and angry about the entire miniature hobby.
Wood Elf Forest Dancer Aloe-Wrynn, based on the Lelith Hesperax miniature, by Todd Swanson.

Inspirational.
I’m not going to sit here and say this artist is so talented that theres no point in me even trying, or that they are blessed to be gifted with such skill, or any of the other things people say when they see work like this that is actually more offensive than they mean it to sound, but I will say this. When I see someone put out work of this quality, I don’t feel defeated, I feel inspired. I want to work harder and improve quicker and one day be able to create something that makes me think “I did it. I reached the skill level I set as my goal”
Outstanding work right here.
holy shit.
All done!
Final shot of small Everblight commission, all tabletop standard bar Lylyth who is character.
Great fun to work on, awesome scheme chosen by the owner and I really enjoyed painting these guys. Sealed up with a protective matt layer and the bases should be near indestructible as they are a solid pva/snow mix.
Monnnnssters.
SO MUCH YES!!!!! These look amazing! Best money I’ve spent in a loooooong time. I can not wait till they get here and I get them on the table! this also means I need to get the display case up and ready to go…
Character standard Lylyth to match the big bads posted earlier, she uses the exact same scheme bar with the added bonus of crazy fire hair which really sets her off and gives a tiny bit of contrast colour to the little group of bastids.
She’s still totally open to changes though, PM me and let me know what ya think dude, if you want anything changed inc hair colour, just say so.
Will get group shots soon.
Edit: Oh she also appears to have a hair stuck on the metal part of her cloak, GG SARAH WELL DONE. I’ll remove that now.
That hair looks great! I was really curious to see what you would do with it and I think it looks great. A whole lot better then the gray/black hair that most give her. I can’t wait to get these guys on the table. Oddly enough that hair colour is the EXACT same as the head spines my wife did for my kroot like 6 years ago.
